First
Year (or Transfer/New Student) Implementation
Note
for schools using OCL once per week: We recommend extra class time
(or
twice per week classes) for 3rd and 4th grades the first year, so K-6th
is fully implemented by the end of the first year. 7th and 8th will
normally be fully implemented by the end of the second year. High school
may take 3-4 years to be fully implemented using once per week.
Kindergarten
and 1st grade will begin OCL normally. The first year of
implementation for 2nd grade and above requires some variance from OCL's regular scope and
sequence so older students can learn grade appropriate skills without
the sacrifice of missing foundational concepts. First year schools will
print First Year Student Record Cards for each grade which will list the
appropriate placement of courses for a school's first year. After the first year of courses, students will continue
chronologically from there.
First
Year Implementation
The
First Year Student Record Cards are built on the following
adjustments. Transfer students (new to your school each year)
should also use the First Year Student Record Card even if you have
used OCL for several years. Instructors
will print First Year Student Record Cards by grade level to keep by
the student's computer during class. The First Year Student
Record Card will list the courses required for easy implementation.

Use kindergarten program normally.
